The 38-metre barge Hesslescarr is a vessel with a unique industrial history: a former tanker that initially sailed on the Seine as a pusher boat, before being converted in the 1980s into an oil supply vessel for ships in Marseille. Its single-tank configuration enabled its acquisition in 2004 and led to a major conversion project, with six years of work to transform it into a comfortable and functional living space.
Since then, the boat has been continuously maintained and improved, and now offers a spacious, light and pleasant living space with good headroom. The interior layout comprises three cabins accommodating up to six people, a fully fitted kitchen, and two showers and toilets.
Outside, a large, perfectly laid-out deck provides a genuine additional living space, combining comfort and conviviality. The boat is in very good overall condition and is ready for immediate use, either as a main residence or for a project on the water.
This boat is particularly versatile, capable of navigating both wide-gauge waterways and numerous narrow-gauge networks.
When moored, its draught is 4.50 m without ballast. When navigating on wide-gauge waterways, this height poses no restrictions.
The vessel is fitted with a ballasting system that allows a compartment at the front of the engine room to be filled with approximately 20 m³ of water. This lowers the stern by around 50 cm, ensuring optimal propeller immersion and excellent sailing performance.
For low-clearance waterways, removing the wheelhouse reduces the draught to approximately 3.50 m, thereby allowing the vessel to pass under most structures.
This configuration offers great operational flexibility and considerably expands the possibilities for navigation.
Spacious, unconventional and full of character, this 38-metre Hesslescarr barge represents a wonderful opportunity for those who appreciate unique living spaces, combining history, space and comfort.
Moorings are available in our marinas in Saint-Jean-de-Losne and Auxonne (21). We can also assist you with financing options to help bring your project to life.
