This 26.16-metre barge is a steilsteven — the straight stem typical of Belgian and Dutch cargo boats — built in 1903 by the De Winter yard in Boom, Belgium. More than a century afloat, and a hull that has been closely looked after: surveyed, sandblasted and repainted below the waterline in April 2024.

She has been converted for year-round living, and that is her first asset. 10 cm rock-wool insulation, double glazing on all the wooden-framed windows, and two sources of heat: a diesel boiler and a pellet stove. The woodwork is pine, the floor wooden, and there is 2.10 m of headroom throughout.

Three cabins and six berths — two double beds and a single —, a shower room with electric WC, a galley with gas hob, electric oven, extractor hood, fridge and dishwasher, and a washing machine. Gas and fire detectors. Outside, a large terrace.

The electrical installation is built around two systems. The first, a 24 V bank of 2 V cells charged by eight solar panels, feeds the 220 V circuit through a 2,000 W Victron inverter. The second is a 5 kW Ecoflow system on lithium batteries, with its own four 400 W solar panels. The engine has its two Optima batteries, new in 2026. Enough to live aboard without depending on shore power.

Power comes from a 220 hp Iveco Aifo on a three-bladed shaft, raw-water cooled, with dry exhaust, an automatic fire extinguisher in the engine room, two bilge pumps and a Vetus bow thruster. Cruising at 12 km/h. Oil and engine filters changed in April 2024. Tanks: 1,000 litres of diesel, 400 litres of heating oil and 4,000 litres of drinking water with filtration.

The boat holds its Union certificate, renewed until 2034 after the commission’s inspection in March 2025. On that occasion, the gas installation was redone by a professional plumber — a new supply from the propane bottle kept outside, with a safety valve — and the hob replaced with a new one; the navigation lights and safety equipment, including lifebuoy and life jackets, were renewed.
